↠THE CHARACTER
Name | Alias: Hizamaru | Hizamaru
Journal: fuwamaru
Age: Over 800. Looks to be about 20.
Canon: Touken Ranbu
Canon point: Regiment Battle 2, the most recent event.
Personality: Hizamaru is a treasured object of the Genji clan and expects to be treated as such. He is not bothered with being used to fight, but in given other tasks he turns his nose up a little and claims that no treasure of the Genji clan should be used in such a manner, saying the Genji clan members would "faint" if they saw him now. He is not a very good worker and thus may not be very good at some of the housekeeping tasks around the citadel such as tending to horses or working in the field. He was simply not made for such tasks and has very little practice with them. He does find it important to be properly taken care of and maintained, however, stating "if not properly maintained, a sword will become unusable." That is considered one of the most unfortunate fates for any sword.
Overall, he is very serious. You won't catch him giving joking asides to the saniwa (their current master), and he doesn't seem to have a friendly history with many of the swords. He is mostly all business and is proud of it too. When set to work, his lines are to the point such as "Leave it to me", "Let us depart", and "It is finished". He doesn't fancy up his words or sugar-coat anything and expects the same when speaking to him. What he will talk about is how he was able to slay spider-demons or cut through the knees of a criminal, both incidences which gave Hizamaru his names. He has been named several times, mostly for his accomplishments or his appearance, and thus he is proud of those also. Of course, when his own brother forgets his names, he is prone to tears.
Speaking of his brother, that is the one thing that Hizamaru's personality does sort of change for. Firstly, he is very, very attached to Higekiri. This may be a reflection of their owners, as Hizamaru's respected and revered his elder brother, who happened to own Higekiri. It is said that Hiza and Hige were forged from two halves of the same metal, as well, so the bond there is very close. At least, that's what Hizamaru will say. His attachment may be considered unhealthy, as he's always talking about or looking for his brother when he's not around, and when he is, he wants nothing more than to please Higekiri and be recognized by him. He even gets flustered when thinking or talking about his brother. Higekiri is more wish-washy and often forgets his own brother's name (because they've both had so many) which gets Hizamaru very emotional. He breaks out of his serious shell and actually sheds tears though he insists that he isn't. He also apologizes on behalf of Higekiri quite frequently, stating his brother has that kind of "disposition". He seems to take responsibility for the both of them, whether it's necessary or not.
Hizamaru is said to have made a sound like a snake, and is often compared to a snake, however his personality is not very snake-like. He is not considered conniving or silver-tongued (much too straightforward for that, and too emotional when it comes to Higekiri). He is not even really a "bad guy" as snakes are often depicted. He punishes those who deserve it, such a criminals and evil demons, as well as the kebishii that plague the saniwa and their future. He is mainly a proud treasure, a serious warrior, and a devoted brother.
Abilities and Nerfs: As a tsukumogami ("inanimate objects that once they have served their owner/s for 100 years, they recieve a soul and therefore become alive and self-aware") sword, Hizamaru is stronger and more resilient than a human being. He doesn't exactly have any superpowers to speak of, however. Any damage his sword takes reflects on his human form.
Inventory: The clothes on his back and the sword-version of himself, aka his vessel, he kind of needs it to exist.
Five Desires: A sword repair kit, a miniature replica of his brother in sword-form, high class accommodations, a romantic date night for two, top-shelf sake
